the 2 defenses in libel or slander are 1. show that the statement is true and 2. public figures are fair game

abc had a slam dunk in either event, so why settle at all?

it makes abc management look complicit.

as for presidential immunity or worse candidate immunity, the precedent is , of course, bill clinton
