"Christian Nationalists" in lieu of any other allusion to Christians.. Speaking as a liberal Christian who believes the Bible tells tells me, among other things, that LGBTQ people, people of color (any color), and other variations, are all people whom God created and all deserve equal respect, and also that abortion is not murder (although denial of abortion often is), I am assured that even many Christians with whom I strongly disagree on interpreting the Bible are not all Christian Nationalists. I was brought up to believe that mingling church and state is not merely terrible for the state, but that it is even more terrible for the church - and I have never seen any reason to question that belief. On the contrary, in the last eight years I have seen conclusive proof of it.

That's the way that I was brought up as well.
