Across the country even in places that were supposed to be unwinnable voters are stepping up: a Democrat just won a mayors race in Tennessee for the first time in over 30 years, a deep-red district came within a few points of flipping, and special elections Republicans assumed were theirs were won by Democrats instead. It didnt dominate headlines, but it should have because the real story of 2025 is that Americans didnt give up. And as we head toward 2026, the Trump movement knows the tide is shifting, which is why theyre already spreading lies and trying to discredit elections again. But this year isnt about fear its about focus, turnout, and believing that truth, compassion, and the Constitution still matter. Every race counts. Every vote counts. And this is the year we organize, defend democracy, and vote like our future and our kids futures depend on it. Ring of Fires Jerrod Zisser breaks this down.

(3,265 posts)1. I will rejoice
after we win elections, not before. Too many seem to be crowing about wins before they happen, and as we saw with Clinton and Harris, that can lead to complacency and disaster.

that elections moving forward will be free and fair. I am also under no illusion that the mid-terms will be a "reset" of democracy. Come 2028 I fear the damage will be done and we will be far beyond the tipping point. I hate being negative but I fear all is lost and we are moving into a global political oligarchy shared by a few countries.
