(953 posts)Khamenei was reviled by his people and the regime was failing, and Trump turned this monster into a martyr. Trump sucks at everything.

(5,744 posts)what in the world did they expect?
trump's team includes enough psychological expertise to enslave 80 million americans and they could not guess that the iranians would unite in resistance?
i really hope that trump's funeral can skip the hyperbolic moaning and groaning and get straight to the second line.

(27,794 posts)and realize what a horror awaits if he sends in ground troops. I will never forget their treatment of the bodies of the American service men ho died in the failed rescue attempt of our hostages. It was barbaric and horrifying. I can't imagine how they would treat active duty troops that were captured.

(261,814 posts)It was a grave mistake to attack them to begin with, and for what?? Doesn't he remember the horrific hostage crisis? And now the U.S. is on their enemies list and, as was said during the Iran/Iraq war, Iranian soldiers don't fear death in battle, they believe a heavenly reward is waiting for them on "the other side."

U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed surprise at the massive turnout and public mourning during the funeral of Iran's late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in Israeli and U.S. strikes. In an interview with Axios, Trump said, "I thought people hated him. But I was surprised to see so many people crying."
Trump also claimed that he could have "eliminated" everyone attending the funeral if he had wanted to, but said doing so would have left "no one to negotiate with." He further stated that the United States and Iran had agreed to temporarily suspend talks and military attacks against one another until the funeral proceedings had concluded.
Meanwhile, millions of mourners gathered in Tehran on Saturday (July 4) to pay their respects to Khamenei. Many participants described his death as a tragedy greater than losing a family guardian and expressed both deep grief and strong anger toward the United States and its allies, while vowing to seek retribution.
