MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow tore into the Supreme Court on her show late Thursday over its confusing — and tepid — order that the Trump administration try to "facilitate" a wrongfully deported migrant's return to the United States.
The high court ruled that the Trump administration must take steps to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland man that the Trump administration admitted it mistakenly deported to El Salvador. But the court stopped short of forcing the government to ensure Abrego Garcia is returned to the U.S.
Maddow shared the language of the order — and she was not a fan of the wording.
They have ordered that this man from Maryland — Kilmer Abrego Garcia — they have ordered that he has to be returned to the United States. Maybe? I say 'maybe,' and I say this is still a developing story. I'm just going to show you and tell you exactly what the Supreme Court said, and you tell me if you can figure it out," she told viewers.
The court ruled that the Monday night deadline is no longer in effect as it had passed, which Maddow acknowledged made sense. But the order also said the rest of the lower court judge's order remained in effect.
