UConn star Paige Bueckers set to be inducted into Huskies of Honor program on Senior Day
Bueckers will become the 23rd UConn player to be inducted into the Huskies of Honor program on the Gampel Pavilion wall. UConn will also unveil an updated banner listing its national Player of the Year award winners with Bueckers' name included.
Criteria for induction into the Huskies of Honor is being named to the 10-member WBCA All-America first team and earning a bachelor's degree. Bueckers is a two-time WBCA All-American (2021, 2024) and earned her degree in Human Development and Family Sciences a year ago. She is the reigning Big East women's basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Minnesota native became the first freshman to be named the Associated Press and United States Basketball Writers Association Player of the Year and win the Naismith Trophy and Wooden Award as the nation's top performer in 2021.
She was the ninth UConn player to be named national Player of the Year joining Rebecca Lobo (1995), Jennifer Rizzotti (1996), Kara Wolters (1997), Sue Bird (2002), Diana Taurasi (2003-04), Maya Moore (2009-11), Tina Charles (2010), and Breanna Stewart (2014-16).
