It's Demoralizing': Georgetown Coach Speaks Out on Seton Hall's Ugly Trend

Georgetown Hoyas head coach Ed Cooley expressed his take over the ongoing struggles of Seton Hall’s basketball program after his team narrowly defeated them in a tense matchup. The close victory highlighted the challenges both teams face in the current season, with Cooley noting the demoralizing trend affecting Seton Hall’s performance.

In a thrilling encounter at Prudential Center, the Hoyas secured a narrow 61-60 victory over Seton Hall, improving their overall record to 10-2 and 2-0 in the Big East conference. The game showcased the resilience of the Hoyas, who faced significant adversity, particularly due to injuries affecting their lineup.

The Hoyas started strong, taking an early 10-3 lead, propelled by a dunk from Drew Fielder. The Hoyas maintained their momentum, extending the lead to as much as 12 points in the first half. Despite a strong push from Seton Hall, who fought back to close the gap, the Cooley-coached team ended the first half with a 32-23 advantage.

The second half saw the Pirates come out aggressively, quickly cutting the deficit to four points. However, the Hoyas responded with crucial baskets, particularly from freshman Thomas Sorber, who led the team with 19 points and contributed eight rebounds and four blocks. His performance was instrumental in maintaining the Hoyas’ edge, even as the game intensified.
