No. 1 Bruins Claim First Big Ten Conference Win over Washington
SEATTLE - The No. 1 UCLA Women's Basketball team (9-0, 1-0 Big Ten) won their first conference game since joining the Big Ten at Washington on Sunday afternoon. The final score was 73-62 to extend the Bruins' win streak to nine games.
The junior duo of Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice led the Bruins' offense, combining for 41 points in the Bruins' win over the Huskies (7-3, 0-1 Big Ten). Betts was the highest scorer of the game with 23 points and Rice finished with a season-high 18 points.
The Bruins were dominant in the paint, outscoring the Huskies 28-10, thanks in part to Betts' scoring prowess.
UCLA started off strong, finishing the quarter with a score of 20-16. Seven players scored in the period, including three Bruins off of the bench. Rice led the Bruins in the first quarter, scoring five points and picking up two assists. Betts finished the quarter with four points and two rebounds.
