Fans Clamor for Sky to Make Trade Pairing Angel Reese With Disgruntled WNBA Star Jewell Lloyd
Fair to say, Seattle Storm star Jewell Lloyd was unhappy with the team's findings that there was no basis for the accusations lodged against the team's coaching staff, which included bullying and harrassment. It was, according to reports, Lloyd herself who was at the center of the charges, and now that the Storm have brushed aside the controversy, Lloyd has decided she wants out.
As first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, Lloyd had lodged a trade request with the team in the wake of the dismissal of the allegations. As reporter Annie Costabile wrote on Twitter/X, "Jewell Loyd has requested a trade out of Seattle, multiple sources told the Sun-Times on Wednesday."
Lloyd is a 30-year-old 10-year veteran of the WNBA, who has spent her entire career in Seattle. She is among the best scoring guards in the sport, and averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists last season.
As soon as word got out that Lloyd wanted to bolt from Seattle, links were immediately made to the Chciago Sky, who have two picks in the first round of the 2025 draft and would be in prime position to make a deal for Lloyd. The hope would be that a perimeter scorer like Lloyd would bolster the inside game of standout rookie Angel Reese.
