Former UConn star Nika Muhl suffered a torn ACL while playing for Besiktas in Turkey on Thursday, the club announced.
It was her first game with the Istanbul-based team.
The injury occurred after Muhl grabbed a loose ball during the third quarter of the teams EuroLeague SuperCup game against Fenerbache. Muhl fell to the floor and grabbed her left knee, screaming in pain. She was taken off the court in a stretcher, and eventually returned to the bench ahead of the games final moments.
Former Husky Gabby Wiliams, who plays for Fenerbache, could be seen rushing to Muhls side after she went down and consoled her as the stretcher came out. The two shared an embrace after the game.

The NBA owns the WNBA. There is no reason why all the players in both leagues aren't covered by the same bargaining agreement. This would mean that the men would have to take a haircut in order that the women get parity. Too bad; I'm sure Stephen Curry could figure out how to survive on only $30 million a year instead of $55 million.
For the most part they play the same game, in the same arenas, for the same overall organization. If any other business segregated their employees by sex and paid women a pittance of what the men made, no one would stand for it.
