Phoenix Mercury set the bar high with new practice facility

Located three blocks from the downtown arena, the facility features world-class amenities, including strength and cardio areas, hydrotherapy, a sauna, offices, meeting rooms, and a lounge and dining room with a full kitchen and a dedicated chef.

"This sets the bar for every basketball team — NBA or WNBA," Taurasi said. "How thoughtful it is, the way they asked us the things we needed to make practice better and performance better. It's really special."

Originally expected to be done this October, the construction company worked endlessly to finish the project three months ahead of schedule. Ishbia recalled leaving a concert at Footprint Center in late June and seeing the workers heading back to the facility afterward.

"You got to have great people," Ishbia said. "They knew we had a date. I couldn't move the All-Star Game back and we wanted to make it happen. Kudos to those people. There were 200 people working on it yesterday. They deserve more credit than I do."
