The WNBA has seen its popularity skyrocket throughout the 2024 season in large part due to the arrival of No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark.
While the "Caitlin Clark Effect" has been an overwhelmingly positive force for the growth of women's basketball, there's no question it's resulted in an unfortunate consequence for longtime WNBA fans.
On Monday, multiple WNBA franchises announced their renewal prices for season-ticket holders. Due to the league's spiking popularity, the average increase in price is staggering.
Some fans are reporting more than a 200% price increase for their season tickets.
"Got my season tix renewal from @chicagosky today. Increase of almost 65 percent, making it undoable. Dont have the heart to tell my daughter yet. You know youve arrived when sheer capitalism starts to devour the very thing that got you where you are," one Chicago Sky season-ticket holder wrote on X.

A huge increase, and the players salaries are based on a minimum percentage of revenues, so salaries will go up, without renegotiating.
Whether they get a higher % in the CBA is something we can't know.
But, the players will be getting a raise. They're due for a big upgrade.
