NBA Finals: Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors blitz Celtics to win dynasty's 4th championship

BOSTON — The Golden State Warriors dynasty is alive and thriving. The Warriors laid waste to the Boston Celtics on their home floor in Game 6 of the NBA Finals to win their fourth championship in eight seasons. A 21-0 onslaught that spanned the end of the first quarter and the start of the second gave Golden State a lead that was too much for Boston to overcome in a 103-90 final.

Stephen Curry's 34 points led five Warriors in double figures. There was no "Game 6 Klay" Thompson (12 points on 20 shots), but Golden State got 18 points from Andrew Wiggins, 15 from Jordan Poole off the bench and 12 from Draymond Green, all of which stunted Boston's attempt to save its Cinderella season. Curry won his first career Finals MVP award unanimously.

The Celtics failed to take care of the ball throughout the postseason, and their 23 turnovers in Game 6, including seven over the course of 11 possessions at the end of the second quarter, laid bare a young team that finally met a moment it could not handle. The Warriors scored 20 points off Boston's miscues and another 21 on 15 offensive rebounds. Still, the Celtics had chances, but Golden State answered every time.

Jaylen Brown led Boston with 34 points, but Jayson Tatum (13 points on 18 shots) gave his co-star little help in defeat. It was a dreadful end to a series full of struggles for the First Team All-NBA star. Al Horford scored 12 of his 19 points in the third quarter, breathing life back into the Celtics, but it was hardly enough. The Celtics began Game 6 as they did elimination games against Milwaukee and Miami, jumping out to an early lead. They made four of their first six shots, including back-to-back 3-pointers by Tatum and Brown, to snare a 12-2 advantage. Boston missed several opportunities to extend the margin and reverted to bad habits, committing four turnovers and allowing three offensive rebounds in the opening 10 minutes.

That game was sick (for a Dubs fan), and it's esp. fulfilling to see the Big Three win a Championship without Durant, who many people claimed while he was there, was the main reason they were so good and won 2/3 Finals (and the one they lost he basically didn't play due to injury).

Congrats to Steph, Klay, Dray, Wiggins, Iggy, Kerr, et al.

That was an epic playoff run I'm sad to see be over, but elated they won in the end.
