It’s a pretty good holiday film. The antagonist’s part is really well written. An actress could have really gone all out on it. Not that the actress did a bad job but I told my wife I’d think there’s an unwritten rule - don’t upstage Eddie.

and that's never a good sign. The audience tends to be much more forgiving than the critics. As a teen I watched Eddie on SNL and enjoyed some of his movies over the years so I'm always pulling for him, but this one looks like a pass.

I had high hopes, because, Eddie Murphy, but the thing just drags on. Eddie is charming, but he can’t carry the thing by himself. YMMV, of course.
