1. And gunners try to convince us there is no such thing as a semi-auto assault rifle.

Looks like a bunch of those sites are pandering to the love of "assault rifles," as well as tactical, sniper, and "assault weapons." Sounds to me that gun fanciers must really be into preparing and training to kill people, notwithstanding those who try to convince us that a gun in their pants, or a gun safe full of assault weapons, make them more polite.

When the heck are we going to wise up like Australians and limit access to these gunz. I know the gun fanciers say they aren't used in that many crimes, but they are a big part of the marketing of gunz to yahoos, racists, intimidators, etc., and the proliferation of more and more weapons.

Photo of yahoos lined up outside a Georgia gun show looking to buy Assault Weapons, hi-cap magazines, and other drool producing lethal weapons and accessories just a week after Sandy Hook:

"what ever you call them" guns to hold off the oppressors is a futile tactic because the oppressors will out number and out gun you eventually. Then they will take your gun from your cold dead hands. Oppressors shoot back don't they?
Dying for the right to own a gun is foolish because it would never get you where you wanted to be.

5. Military-styled semi-auto rifles were originally marketed openly as "assault rifles."

Once the pro-gunners started their deliberate No Such Thing As An Assault Rifle program, to make the usage of such firearms in violent acts less of a statistical factor, the vocabulary intimidation wars were on---as usual. I keep telling everybody: as long as the Gun Enthusiasts have the upper hand in controlling the vocabulary, we'll keep losing. Not liking guns is no excuse for not familiarizing yourself with the basic terminology. Trust me, it's not that complex.

with gun terminology in general from my military training. I refuse, however, to discuss the "technicalities" of guns with gun nuts because the size or velocity of a bullet seldom makes death any less permanent, or the need for gun control any less urgent.

A gun by any other name, would still be a gun...

7. That's exactly what I'm advocating that we avoid.

By all means, let's know the difference between a semi-automatic and a fully automatic weapon, for instance. But let's not get dragged into discussions of esoteric details which have nothing to do with basic gun control policy. That's exactly how they want to steer things, because when it comes down to it, they don't have much of an argument against sensible controls.

(the Australian comedian) says, the only honest argument gun nuts really have is: "Fuck off. I like guns."
