Woman shoots her 7 y/o grandson in her home mistaking him for an intruder
http://www.tampabay.com/news/publicsafety/accidents/tampa-grandmother-mistakes-grandson-7-for-intruder-shoots-him-deputies-say/2193576TAMPA A grandmother accidentally shot and badly injured her 7-year-old grandson early Tuesday, thinking he was an intruder at their Town 'N Country home, authorities said.
The boy, Tyler Maddox, was in critical but stable condition at St. Joseph's Hospital.
The boy and his twin brother, Tyrique, were sleeping in the five-bedroom house at 6505 Alta Monte Drive with their grandmother, Linda Maddox, 63.
She had placed a chair against her bedroom door for security, according to Hillsborough County sheriff's officials. About 1 a.m., she heard the chair moving against the wood floor. Thinking the noise was from an intruder, Linda Maddox retrieved a .22 caliber pistol she keeps near the bed and fired in the darkness toward the door, deputies said.

What? she wasn't obliged to retreat, no duty to retreat, she was in tampa bay FLORIDA just standing her ground, right?
How was she to know the noise at her door was her 7 yr old grandson?
... she felt threatened to within an inch of her life as the hairs on her neck rose & a shiver went down her spine, & she could'nt've retreated if she'd wanted to, she HAD TO FIRE.
Gawd, what if it HAD been an armed intruder hell bent on rape & murder???????
She'd be a gun hero today.
