Pia Carusone Statement on Defeat of the Paul Amendment

Pia Carusone, Executive Director of Americans for Responsible Solutions, issued the following statement on the defeat of the Paul Amendment, which would have reversed a 40 year prohibition of guns in post offices:

“We’re pleased that the efforts of ARS and its half-million members helped defeat Senator Rand Paul and GOA Director Larry Pratt’s amendment to open post office doors to firearms. ARS strongly opposes any effort to use unrelated legislation, like Postal Reform, to weaken our nation’s gun laws. Changes to firearms policy should be part of more comprehensive legislation aimed at reducing gun violence while respecting the Second Amendment rights of law abiding citizens.”
