Man buys a handgun and then "accidently" shoots and kills 3 year old son a month later

http://greenecounty.kait8.com/news/news/411503-sheriff-3-year-old-shot-head-father-accidentally

The word "accidently" ought to be replaced with "negligently". We don't know why the man bought the handgun but if he did it to protect the family, he instead became a serious threat to the safety of his family once he got it.

While the article says the man purchased the gun on line, that can be done but the weapon, by law, has to be shipped to a licensed dealer were the purchaser must go to and pass a background check before receiving the weapon. The two rifles I own I bought on line but they were sent to a local gun dealer with whom I had previously arranged to receive the guns. I had to give the seller the address and license number of the local gun shop owner so he'd know where to send them and also know that the person receiving them was legally allowed to do so. When they arrived, he called me and I went to the shop, went thru the mandatory background check, paid him $20 for his time and then he handed me the rifles.

shit happens, and that is just the price we must pay for living in the most armed and dangerous country in the "civilized" world. This "responsible" father could not possibly have avoided this "accident" so he's good to go for another gun purchase because: Second Amendment, Freedom, My Rights, and Liberty.
