Need info please. Does anyone know Family of Origin therapy?

A very dear young friend is seeking counseling.
She asked me tonight if I knew or had heard of family of origin therapy.
I did not. Looked it up when I got home.
Concerned.
I am biased though, i've had the experience of seeing one of the best, counselors to be found, I've been seeing him on and off since 1978.
Known in counseling to be the counselors' counselor.

Any insight appreciated. Tks.

I think it depends on why this person is seeking help. Ilsa Feb 2015 #1

If a person is having problems getting along with others, for example, maybe it's because they were parented in such a way as to expect others to cater to their needs. Maybe this therapy would work for them. Our birth order has an effect on who we are, as do how we learn to solve problems with others.

If they suffered a recent trauma, maybe a different therapy is necessary.

Good luck. I've never heard of it, but I don't see immediately a reason to be concerned.
