Hi guys. Here's a regular Bluesky link:

I know there's a lot more to this - just a request. Thanks!

(10,484 posts)I just joined last week, but I am finding plenty of X friendlies to follow and am accumulating followers at a reasonably steady pace.
They don't tolerate misinfo over there and their blocking mechanism WORKS, unlike Nazi Xitter.
AND - there are block lists for Nazis - just subscribe and block 'em all at once. When the lists are updated, the new additions are blocked too. Kudos to those over at bsky keeping those lists up to date.

(106,752 posts)I just wanted access to some content that seemed not available to non-registered.
I DID sign up for Post, the short-lived but pretty happy place for the refugees who had nothing but contempt for the others but found Mastodon too complicated. Post just couldn't compete and whoosh it was gone.
So, I need to do a little homework on BlueSKy. Who owns it? Will it stay as it is, only getting bigger?

(27,400 posts)A core feature of the service is its usage of domain names as handles. Users are assigned a generic subdomain handle after signing up (such as @example.bsky.social). Handles with the default *.bsky.social suffix redirect to the relevant user's page when visited in a web browser. They can choose to verify a domain or subdomain after signing up. According to the company's website, the system is designed to be a method of verifying a user's legitimacy and identity, akin to how it is common to check a page URL for a potential phishing or typosquatting attack.

(10,484 posts)I was on Post, too, before it went away. I'm also on Mastodon, but BlueSky is fine; it is easier to use.
Right now, they seem determined to keep it a safe space. Those there are calling out and blocking Nazis, crypto, and the like. There are curated block lists that are easy to use.
I use Sky Follower Bridge to find my Xitter followers and follow them on BlueSky and Buffer to post on BlueSky and Mastadon simultaneously (plus Xitter, but I'm moving away from that slowly).
I wish more Dems in congress and Dem party apparatus and leaders/luminaries would get on BlueSky and off of Xitter. That's my one sticking point as I have good lists of them Xitter. But that isn't going to be enough to keep me there.

While ex-Twitter co-founder and CEO Jack Dorsey started the project that would eventually become Bluesky, he is not the owner. Bluesky is a Public Benefit LLC, and the company describes its ownership as owned by Jay Graber and the Bluesky team. Jack Dorsey is on the board of directors along with Graber and XMPP creator Jeremie Miller.

(10,484 posts)The first week, they suspended my account because I was following too many people. They never said that or told me why, so I'm guessing about that.
Then they let me back on, but I could no longer follow anyone. There was no tech support, no answers, nothing.
I could not use Threads like people should be expected to use social media. They don't allow it, so it was absolutely unusable.
I gave up.

(305,853 posts)How Frustrating!
I have a Threads story.. My Son was on there before the election to help out Dems.. But after the election he said it was invaded by nazis and he left. and now he's on No Social Media. But he doesn't have time like Mama.

(22,632 posts)It's been floating around on the to-do list for a while, but this seems like a good time to take another look at it.

I second this request wholeheartedly.
