i was on THE JURY and i could not figure out what was wrong with the person's post until i clicked the embedded link. it went to an "escort" site.

you can hover your mouse cursor over the link (without clicking it) and somewhere on the screen it will show you where the link is going (at least it does with Firefox - on the bottom left-hand corner). It was to some Australian escort service site.

Is that banner that pops up about jury a thing? Or is it just an advertisement?

a blue banner pops up on your screen and you can accept being on a jury or reject it (am guessing you thought it was fake ).
