(115,173 posts)I watched these things and allowed my daughters to watch them without it even registering. Glad to see younger generations are seeing it and calling attention to it.
Reminds me of how racism in cartoons used to be acceptable until people started calling that out.

(34,927 posts)The young woman who made this video is clearly highly intelligent and highly perceptive. One hopes she'll end up with broader exposure.
Thanks much for posting it. It was an education.

(2,884 posts)Turn off the sound while watching TV and movies. Pay attention to the difference in how the camera depicts female bodies versus male bodies. The camera often slides up and down on female bodies, and tends to focus in on breasts and crotch area, while there's much less focus on our faces. Compare that to how the camera focuses on male bodies. It is also painfully noticable that women are shown with little or no choice about which male character they are paired with. The men claim them, often through force.

because while I had the slim waist and wasn't too tall and my face was ok, I didn't have big breasts, therefore I wasn't enough, I was inadequate as a female.
ps, actually at the same time I was glad I didn't have big breasts because I saw how men looked at the women who did and how that was by some men the major focus of their attention on such women, not to mention, the physical presence and discomfort when engaged in sports, the expensive special bras and all that I never needed.
