Honestly, there was NO woman who could have taken over for Jon Stewart? None whatsoever?
I have no problem with Trevor Noah, in fact I'm glad to see a person of color get such a plum assignment. It's about time they got away from the White Guy thing and Larry Wilmore was a good start. But come on - there isn't one single woman who could do as well?

(3,747 posts)I think she's busy with other projects at the moment, so even if she was offered the job (which I still hope she was), I'm pretty confident she would have refused.
I would have loved to see Stephanie Miller take over. Her show is hilarious.

(813 posts)Even before those who said Tina Fey. Steph doesn't get the kudos she deserves.

(4,458 posts)several people including women, have other things going on and turned it down.
Oliver re-signed with HBO, Jessica didn't feel she was qualified (yet) for the job, Fey, Pohler and others- I understand were all on the list.
I doubt there is any hidden anything in the final decision....imo

(65,432 posts)I'm willing to give Trevor the benefit of the doubt but I am very disappointed that whoever in charge of making the decision didn't go bold and hire a woman...

(14,255 posts)The Daily Show seems like it would take a huge chunk of time out of a week - if it was me, I would rather makes a movie every once in a while, or be in a sitcom that filmed so many episodes a season and then done for a while.
I doubt women were excluded, really, there might not have been that many people of either gender who would want to do the show at the same level of political reporting as Jon Stewart did.

(5,714 posts)She's also a person of color, as well. And a total badass.

(3,747 posts)She knew that if she didn't do really well, people would blame it on her being a black woman, which would of course be used as "evidence" in not hiring women and PoC in the future. She didn't want that, so she's refusing the offer for now.
