Ever search the news for stories about brutalized girls and women?

I'm sure hardly anyone does. It's punishing.

There are blogs detailing the atrocities that happen in war. There are blogs (many) that cover the great harms that befall men in divorce courts. There are blogs that detail dog bites.

Are there any blogs that detail the many violent and sexual crimes targeted at women because they're women? Domestic violence blogs? Sexual assault blogs?

If you know of any, please let me know. Searching for such information ... it's an onslaught.

Recently gaspee posted about a similar type of blog in the UK, but it only lists the names of women who are actually killed. Not those who make it out alive. It's good to know this is starting. As she said so well: This is not about statistics. This is about people. All these girls. All these women. All of us so inured to their suffering, because, well, that's just how the world is. You protect yourself as best you can, try to ignore it, and get on with living your life. At least that's how it's been viewed so far.

But we need to change this. We need to stop seeing this as a problem that we should simply accept, and IMO part of that is no longer treating this like it's less worthy of special attention than dog bites and handfuls of unfair divorce court cases.


I was trying to find something like this this morning when I unfortunately stumbled on this story, and I was reminded of the blog in the UK... and that like so many of the women brutalized all around the world every day, her story would just be another blip in the news.
