Bill would require women seeking abortions to be given sex trafficking info

Senate Bill 102 is set for a committee hearing Wednesday.

Rep. Dan Kaiser, R-Aberdeen, is a sponsor. He said the idea is to bolster the state’s push to help women who are forced into sex trafficking. It’s an educational measure that might help get women out of dangerous and violent situations, he said.

The written notices would be provided by the state Department of Social Services. The paperwork would contain the phrase, “If someone is sexually abusing you or causing you to exchange sex for something of value, and you want help, call 911, or the telephone number provided on this notice.”.
