Sioux Falls mayoral runoff too close to call

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Sioux Falls City Council runoff election was held on Tuesday, with results for the mayoral race too close to call.

With all precincts reporting as of 11:35 p.m. on Tuesday, the race for mayor is neck and neck, with a less than 1% margin of error. Christine Erickson (R) held the lead with 18,279 votes to Jamie Smith’s (D) 18,277.

Dakota News Now was at each candidate’s watch party and had final reports on the night, including remarks from Erickson, which can be viewed above.

Aside from the mayoral race, three seats are open in the city council, including City Council Member At Large A, Central District City Council Member, and Southeast District City Council Member.
