Related: About this forumOctober has been a test.
I have had a really rough time. I was exposed to Covid on the first day of the month and spent the following twenty plus days of my double vaxed life fighting a fever and body aches in every joint of my body, even down to my fingers and toes.
The loss of my sense of smell didn't manifest but the changes in taste were really weird. First came the nausea, then vomiting and I wasn't able to drive to my Covid test appointment because of digestive disruptions, if you get my drift. This led to the nurse rescheduling me for a check up and labs at the end of my quarantine.
Days passed and I was finally able to go and get my blood drawn, an appointment for my three month follow up and an appointment for my Moderna booster next month.
What a relief, right? Not so fast, says extra scary October. In the following days, I developed a nosebleed, took a tumble and hit my face, hard, on the edge of the bathroom sink.
This led to an aching jaw and a terrible dental pain after which my fever came back with a vengeance. So, I self medicated with acetaminophen to treat the fever and the pain. I dosed myself at 650 mg times two, TID, every eight hours. I also custom shaped and cut some of my lidocaine patches and taped them to my face to ease the breakthrough pain. I'm sure I looked lovely, but who cares, at this point.
Two days ago, the jaw and dental pain subsided. Yay, right?!?! Au contraire, mes amis. Today, I am burning all over with hives and trying not to eat diphenhydramine aka Benadryl, like candy, specifically TicTac.
I'm guessing that I have overdosed myself on acetaminophen and that's why I developed hives. But who knows. I'm hoping to be fully recovered in a day or two but it's six days until November and Halloween being just around the corner could mean more scary times ahead.
Being sick always sucks, but sick and alone can be very scary, whatever month it is.
Thanks for reading. Please, wish me luck.

(36,390 posts)They are the only ones nearby I could call and if I got in trouble. I never used to think about it that much but at age 72, cancer survivor, I wonder what I would do if I needed help. I really sympathize with your face injury. Smacked my head on the sidewalk a month or two ago, got a classic shiner black eye and aggravated an old injury in my sternum so that it hurt every time I cough. Sounds like you have really been to the wars.

'Tis true I have my 'Faith'; nonetheless, if alone and sickness comes, it shakes you.

October is a tough month for the u.s., I heard an astrologer explain. Maybe your chart has some similar aspects, and if so, hang in there. Will be over soon.
Also I would suggest some topicals. They treat pain well without going through your system. Get some with lidocaine.

(53,186 posts)I have a theory: these disasters come in clusters. My life is certainly an example of that right now. But when the cluster is over, there is a period of peace. You and I are buying that peace with our disasters right now.
I really hope it comes soon. For you too.
