The meteor shower will peak late Saturday night into the early-morning hours of Sunday

and is best viewed from locations with low light pollution away from cities, with the official peak happening at midnight Eastern time, according to the American Meteor Society.

Neat! My friend was out for a bit, and saw a family on a nearby road, stargazing! elleng Aug 2023 #2

Partly cloudy from the thunderstorm that rolled over around sunset... ( Already a great way to start the evening!)

I saw about 20 or so,,, from the south and southwest... But that was also one of the windows through the clouds, lol.
Saw one that was reddish in color, that was definitely new and cool. Also it's neat seeing the flash just barely behind the clouds! Couldn't make out a radiant with the limited sky and some stupid tourists who don't know how to turn off the damn lights!

It was a short sitting, clouds came through and blocked everything. ...and I heard varmints scuffling, NOPE, BACK INSIDE!

Everything I read/heard said the Perseids were supposed to be amazing this year. I went out a little after midnight (NY). I live in the country and there is no light pollution. I stayed out for an hour and saw only 3.

not many! We've seen some amazing shows from our little ranch here.

A coyote howled near us almost all night. I think I heard deer run by. Thankfully no snakes! Our dog remained on high alert.

Then my air mattress went flat. 😳

So I baled. 🤣

ha ha, that sounds like a good time, all in all.

I was happy for the 3 "shooting stars" that I saw. I guess my disappointment stems from a fantastic show I saw years ago. A friend and I got up in the middle of the night and sat in his vehicle. We were surrounded by meteors--we could not look in enough directions at once! And some appeared to have color--green I think.
