Why AI Agents are either the best or worst thing we've ever built

This is a game changer. Autonomous agents are exponentially more dangerous than large language models.

I am in the worst camp. It is infuriating to have something go around making decisions like that.

But I do think CEOS of tech companies might decide that agents are cheaper and fire all human employees.

I have mixed feelings about that as someone who feels this type of growth is parasitic, eschews IRB protocols and informed consent and allows as I have seen for 15 years almost in two countries, this somewhat predatory private sector and the state to lay waste to my resources.
But while the rare malicious or more likely incompetent human employee can muck things up, it is still better to have humans in the loop. As for malicious or effectively malicious levels of incompetence versus agents, then the ceo of the company is still liable.

I am a reasonable woman. I am not a fool.

I have seen your posts over the years IronLionZion and I know you are cool. We are both Indian. This is a community so I won’t overtly add what I usually add inside my head “you are cool to the extent that I know you”.

But I never assume anyone is cool (adjusted for context unless I am sure).

I am unmasked. Oh well.

I try to be a nice person. But it is 15 years of bullshit with no relief in sight and it is all from the technology sector.
I have suffered loss after loss after loss.

If the idea is that the state or the private sector can get away with claiming that there is no liability if those things make errors, while being perfectly okay with lapping up credit, for which I have yet to see a single damn reason that was not mostly made up or forced..

I’d need to see proof. My best friend or my main mentor in science alone do I take on the system of trust to that extent.
My best friend is Indian and a scientist and environmentalist of the Madhav Gadgil type.
And my main mentor is generally reliable.

As a homeowner and a human with some property, it is time I flex to the extent of pointing out to my state, central govt, city officials and the local private sector that this is not a vacant spot.
Based on what I have seen there is no science or technology worth retaining.
The whole things should be safely aborted anf brought to me via systemic channels.

Austerity breeds austerity. After doing all this, don’t expect me to go “awwwwww weeeee”.

But safely aborting this wretched nuisance is imperative. Not next having only agents. And at a time when Musk, Jay Bhattacharya and RFk are in charge in the US there is zero trust from my side and I am erring on the side of real safety and clear based on everything I have seen starting at least 15 years ago that this should be aborted safely.
As for the trouble of this approach having resulted in private locations potentially being handed out to influencers and people who want to be on tv or further bend rules, I am a neutral party who is not blind to bigotry or injustice nor harsh, but it better meet those criterion and not be self serving drivel.

I am on the left. The only thing I have ever felt victimized by is lack of self awareness and stupidity. I have no illusions about myself but I stay out of places where I would make an even bigger nuisance of myself and don’t understand people like Zuckerberg, Pichai, Andreessen, Musk etc who seem to glorify those things and further seem to want to deflect criticism into culture war channels hoping no one notices that a collection of dropouts who garner sycophants using the ability to monetize time people waste on the net are not actually that impressive.

Maeve Higgins gets it. I am an idiot a lot of the time. But I never learnt how to use that to “win”.
I wish someone like Hemant Kappanna or Tejas Thackeray (as Madhav Gadgil is no more) or Adam Becker or Clayton Dalton or Josh Silberg or DAIR would help abort this.

And as for the faceless nuisances, forgiveness means more of the same so I am putting a call out for witnesses who can help me file complaints and that will act as a deterrent.

I have no use for exploitation of all this for more cottage industries of illicit studies.
I am working out clear consent guidelines to help avert misconduct and malpractice allegations at least going forward.

This is not a teaching moment. These are the types of people who will proliferate in this environment and I am not in the mood. I do know how not to break things. I did not expect to have to use it at this level.
The sheer nuisance value of idiots who think they are clever:

You are cool btw IronLionZion. Heh, any chance you know anyone who could help abort rubbish tech?

You know, I used to be a much nicer woman. Now I kinda get that Straw Dogs person. I moved half way around the world because of these Romney-Conservadem (think Andrew Cuomo/Eric Adams/Manchin/Sinema/Zoe Lofgren) types and now this shit here.

Kayfabe and memes have rotted human brains to the point where genuine human anger that js sane can no longer be understood.

I am a loner and an introvert who detests communication, Hollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood, Kollywood, Mollywood etc.
Actual woods I like. Ffs.
But silence is on the whole more dangerous.

Guys like Ragy Thomas, Vincent Palathingal (Jan 6 Trumper), Shalab Kumar (religious creep of a Trumper), V.S.Ramachandran, Kanury Rao, that Insys creep, Sundar Pichai, Mitesh Bohra, Suhail Doshi etc creep me out and that’s the type of Indian, not Hemant Kappanna, Madhav Gadgil or Tejas Thackeray I would expect to see in this.

As for women, the Indian women I would get would be people like Nandita Bajaj who I cannot see touching this with a 100000 foot pole. My female doctors here are cool and should not be misled into buying into this out of lack of exposure to its grimness.
