Why do so many people march on the streets when Israel is involved in a war to defend its own citizens? Where are all the people marching to decry atrocities in Syria, Chechnya, Afghanistan, or to Uyghur Muslims in China? What is it about Israel, the only Jewish state in the world, and the only democracy in the Middle East, which causes people to be moved to protest in rage? Why is Israel held to a different standard to any other country in the world when trying to defend its own people from heinous acts of terror on its civilian population? And what positives can Jewish people take away from the hatred of them?

(19,312 posts)Theyve been threw hell since 1940s. Can you imagine living during the life of hitler? Please, a bunch of protesters are not even near the hell they've been though. I feel for them big time. They should be hugged and cherished from the horrors theyve survived.

(16,434 posts)None of those countries claim to be moral or a democracy...maybe it's because people expect Israel not to act like those other countries!
I don't hate Israel, I don't hate the Jewish people...I just believe hypocrites should be called out!

(96,043 posts)It boils down to saying Israel's Jews are better people than anyone else, that good behavior can't be expected from the likes of Syrians or Russians or Chinese, or Iranians, or Sudanese, or what have you, let alone from militant bodies like Hamas crusading against Israel's Jews, but Israel's Jews, well, they're capable of better behavior....

(13,213 posts)who have emigrated from the Middle East with the express purpose of enlisting American and European sympathy in their goal of expanding Palestine. They have learned to stir the pot of American politics by cultivating people of color, who identify with them, and the gullible far left, who automatically identify with any apparent underdog, right or wrong.

(749 posts)There are plenty of born and raised Americans of color that see what is happening in Israel and Palestine and want it ended.
Their own experiences of racism in the US helps them understand how innocent people can be scapegoated because of their ethnicity.
One big reason for the animus of the Israeli government and the war is that our government is funding it. If the US wasn't Israel's big brother ally, this war would get as much coverage and attention as the genocide in Darfur and Syria.

This is but one of many stories out there, so I suggest you look harder or choose not to ignore that not all of the protests were organic, nor based on your theory.

(1,732 posts)We are invested in the region and we rely on Israel to be our buddy in that part of the world. We have large Jewish and Muslim communities here, and both exert political influence. We regard many of our problems as related to our support of Israel or its adversaries, or both.
