from "Jesus Christ Superstar". I love the original Broadway Musical soundtrack and used to listen to it almost every night...The film starring John Legend was just OK...imo...

At the Last Supper, Jesus was telling them how to keep going after he was gone. Most probably didn't know why he might have been so serious.

But even without that (and the wine), they were having a meal centered around the idea of liberation from slavery and oppression...while in an occupied city, the roads to which were sites of people crucified for stealing, speaking against the government, or not having the right citizenship papers.
