Remember "ask me anythings?"

We used to do that around DU, mostly in The Lounge. I'm going to do one in this forum: questions only from regulars in ASAH, Ancient Wisdom, Seekers, and Buddhism* please.

Last Friday I went to see Theresa Caputo, Long Island Medium.

Sold out crowd in a theater that seated 1700. Ninety-five per cent women. Went with two girlfriends, one of whom has seen Theresa at six other appearances, so she told me a lot about what these appearances are like.

And so with that....ask me anything about the appearance.

Buddhism involves meditation, which is the process where one's mind is cleared out. This is essentially what happens when a medium channels.

3. friend's experience

Feb 2023

I went to the show with two friends, and since they came in from another town, we decided to meet at the parking deck closest to the venue where Theresa was appearing.

The two friends are Jan and Linda. The three of us have worked together for over a decade. Prior to becoming a teacher, though, Linda was a criminologist in the state police lab. Her husband, who died last year, was a detective. Linda and her husband had been to about six of Theresa's appearances together, so he was quite familiar with them.

On the way to the deck, Linda was stopped by a police officer who told her she was driving with her lights off. Jan piped up, "She's married to a detective." This forced my friend to tell the officer that her husband had passed away last year. He said he was sorry and of course, no traffic ticket. Then they continued on to meet up with me.

We were in the auditorium and Theresa was doing a reading on the other side of the room. She said, "I am getting a badge or ID in a brown leather wallet. It has the the number 59 on it." My friend immediately nudged me and said, "That's his (her husband's) badge number and he carried it in a brown leather wallet!" My friend could not raise her hand to acknowledge this snippet of information, though, as Theresa tells everyone at the beginning that if she's reading one section of the room, to not raise a hand from another section.

I have quite a bit of experience in reading spirit messages, so when we were talking after the readings, I asked my friend if she thought the police stop and the badge mention were related. She said she thought so, and I certainly did. That would be so typical of someone in the "brotherhood of blue."

---------

There was a woman two seats down from me. Everyone was very friendly and we were chatting. She had a photo of a child with her who she said was her nephew. When Theresa was by us, she picked up on the child's passing and talked about it for a moment. It wasn't a long, detailed reading, though, like some of the others.

As for me, I communicate with my crossed over beings routinely, so I didn't need Theresa. I wanted to see her help others who did, and did she ever. It was fascinating to watch her. She tells the audience at the beginning that she is able to communicate with "the dead" (I personally would not refer to it that way, but that's neither here nor there) and that it is very different from you and I talking, for example. It doesn't work like that.

The way it works is that she sees symbols and then puts the story together from the symbols. Sometimes it takes me a long time to get what they are saying, but just as many times I get it right away. It was the same with her. Sometimes she would get a message and put it together quickly, and at other times it took her longer and it was a struggle.

In mediumship, there's a thing they call "verification." It means the spirit comes back in some way to verify you received the message correctly.

We do a similar thing in interpersonal communication, the field in which I taught for many decades. It's often referred to as feedback and can go like this: "If I understand you correctly, you're saying (paraphrase of what the person said)."

This is the way to test your understanding of the person's message and to let them know how closely you are listening (or not).

The next day I was working at my desk and an email from my friend came in. I read the first sentence or two of a paragraph but at that point didn't understand what the paragraph was about. I started getting a feeling and then I had a full-blown feeling of a presence (I get a physical reaction when a spirit is present or communicating). As I read the rest of her paragraph, which was about whether this incident really was her husband, I knew it was he, visiting me to verify.

I think I would have been disappointed if I had not received a message. It seems that you are much less self-centered than I am and really enjoyed that your friend got a message.

6. getting messages

LOL about self-centered. Yeah, especially at $99 a ticket. But it was worth it to me to see how one of the most proficient mediums operates.

I wonder what Theresa's worldview of this is because she deals with such heartbreak and tragedy in these two-hour shows. Does she think the world is full of tragedy? It has to be incredibly stressful figuring out these messages to people who have endured unbearable heartbreak, like the couple whose son killed himself and they found the body. There was also a woman whose sister was murdered (throat slit) and Theresa experienced that. The murder is unsolved. Both those examples are from the readings we were at.

At the same time there are people like me and many, many others who communicate regularly with spirits and it becomes normal to us. It's very humorous as they (energy forms) are always playing jokes and having fun. Kinda' like people who graduated from school, conversing with people who are still students.

Mine plays jokes, sends me music and film recommendations, finds me products I need and arranges for me to get them, takes photographs, embellishes photos I take and ones that others send me. Observes all the holidays (I got four Valentines and a Christmas card. Also two Halloween cartoons.) Adds a whole new dimension to life, which is a lot of fun. It's always thought-provoking trying to figure out what they are saying.

I'd like to know if Theresa is aware of such situations. There is a well-known Hollywood producer who is engaged in such a relationship and he has written about it; also produced a film. He says the main thing you have to be is open-minded. I have conversed with him and learned there are groups of people on the internet who continue relationships with their spouses. The purpose of the groups are to compare notes with like-minded others. it is definitely true that most people are not prepared to handle this. They think you're nuts, but hey, I'm old enough that I don't care what they think.

9. Message to larger audience
Sun Mar 5, 2023, 12:32 PM

She didn't have an overall message for everyone, but inadvertently, one came through. Here's what it was, and it's particularly pertinent regarding this last week, the week that Alex Murdaugh was sentenced to life for his crimes resulting from a 20-year long addiction to oxycontin and oxycodin. The message was how our society has been decimated from the opioid crisis.

She walks from one section of the auditorium to another. In this auditorium, I think she went to about seven spots.

When she was in one particular area, which was to our right, there were a substantial number of people who were there because they wanted to talk to someone who had died due to opioid drug use.

Now the question is, how did all these people get grouped together? They certainly didn't tell the ticket sales office "I want to sit with the opioid death people."

It's a mystery how this happens. Theresa made the point that she has noticed this "grouping" effect--that people tended to sit with others who had suffered the same tragedy: suicides in one area, drug use losses in another. In this audience, there were numerous people in one section who had lost a loved to a murder. When she connects with an individual and their accompanying spirits, she asks if others have had that kind of death. People raise their hands. That's how you notice they are loosely "grouped."

After she told us about the group effect, she commented on how large thae opioid section was, so if there was a message from Theresa to the audience as a whole, it was "Look at how devastating the opioid crisis has been."

The opioid dependency problem is both infuriating & so sad.

I worked with that population professionally for a few years. All but 2 or 3, out of at least a few thousand clients, were hooked by doctors. 12 mos of rxs, then abruptly cut off, with no warning as to what they would experience!

It all started in the region of Appalacia where I was working because the furniture mill jobs were outsourced & people lost hope over time. 😓🤬

Makes perfect sense to me that people group together that way because, contrary to popular opinion, like does attract like. 😉

Ty again for sharing!

My friend and colleague Jan was on a Zoom meeting with six other people including me, and also Linda yesterday.

We never have any trouble with Zoom in these meetings, which occur on a regular basis because we have to take care of business.

However, on this call, Jan, who lost her husband last year (see post 3), had all kinds of trouble. The pictures of others in the meeting turned into an odd flickering line. This went on for about five minutes. It was only on Jan's screen.

Then something white materialized in front of Jan's face. She did not know this was happening, so I said, "Jan you have something white swirling in front of your face and it's obscuring you on the camera."

I'm not sure if Linda picked up on it, but Jan and I both realized it could have been Jan's husband engaged in some antics.

Eventually it went away and we finished our lonnnnnnnnnng four and a half hour meeting.

The meeting was recorded, so I later wrote Jan to tell her she should watch the tape and if the white swirly thing is on the recording, she should pull a screen shot.

I hope she does it, but yes, it will take some time to wade through a 4.5 hour meeting.
