http://www.myscenicdrives.comI have long searched for the perfect planner, but they have all failed me in one way or another. At long last, I have found one that is closest to perfection that I have ever seen.
It takes a bit to learn how to use it, but once you get it, it is fantastic. You can put in an overview then start adding stops, looking for scenic routes, finding historical points of interest and locating recreational areas. It allows you to decide how long you want to drive each day and can mark a weeklong trip into manageable segments, then tell you what lodging is available in the area.
I love planning a trip, but this site has made it even more fun.
Plan a road trip before it's too late!!!! You won't regret it.

(146,218 posts)Like I said, you have to play around with it, as it is not all the intuitive.
But once you get it and have explored the options, it is truly amazing. Particularly if you like of the highway travel like I do.

But, love the scenic routes you can tap into. very cool

As an alternative to myscenicdrives.com (and many other road trip planning and place discovery sites), try out Roadtrippers.com It's been featured in Wired, Lifehacker, Travel+Leisure, and others. Very intuitive, large database of places that's ever-growing (users can add and edits places), as well as an iPhone app that can by synced for navigation. It's also mobile-responsive.
Ping me with any questions if you'd like!
