I'm gonna go for it (Hawaii)... Fuck COVID I have NEVER been anywhere in my LIFE
I'm finally coming into some money and looking at visiting friends in Hawaii!
I'm vaxed and boosted and I have literally never traveled in my life. (Been too busy being a poor single mom, now they are grown and I am free!)
I have friends on Maui and the Big Island... figured I'd bounce between the two (interisland flights are actually not that expensive) and see their personal paradises.
They literally both have huge gardens with food and chickens!
But I also wanna go see volcanos, black sand, etc.
Not too sure about the luau thing.... it seems like exploitation. I'd rather honor the native people and go to a museum or something.
Anyway.... Does anyone have a "must-do" for Hawaii in March?

I really dont need much structire... I definitely wanna rent a car and drive atound the island (Maui)... My friend in Kona is excited to be a tour guide!
She and I used to work together here in Tahoe. SHe and her husband remodeled their house on their own over YEARS, sold it and made the dream come true! I cant wait to see her papaya trees and such!
it's kinda fun looking at tropical activities etc when there's 5+ feet of frozen tundra outside!
I also have a bestie who lived there for many years and will be hitting her up for info
My friend has had to do a great deal of business travel during the pandemic, even before the advent of the vaccine. He has so far remained unscathed by the coronavirus. His suggestion are these:
1: Wear two masks in crowded, indoor locations such as the airport terminal. He wears one KN95 mask over another in such situations. However, I think one mask is sufficient on that long, long flight. The air in the cabin of an airliner in flight is constantly being refreshed and replaced.
2: My friend stays in small, single-occupancy airbnb's whenever possible, eschewing large hotels.
3: Whatever you do, do it under the sky, in the open air. Hawaii's climate certainly lends itself to that. Best to be outdoors, taking in the natural beauty of the islands, rather than seeking indoor entertainment.
P.S. Can I stay at your place in Tahoe while you're gone? I'm really pining to do some skiing at Heavenly.

Living in Tahoe, I respect that...LOCAL flavor...the places you see cuz a friend goes there every sunset 
Still...7 days is gonna be packed
