Anyone got NBC Live Extra working with Comcast?

I'm going mental trying to get this to work.

In order for NBC Live Extra to work, I have to log in with my xfinity (Comcast) ID. When I do, it tells me I don't have NBC Live Extra in my package. I don't understand this. I took advantage of a Comcast offer the other day to add cable TV to my internet package. Isn't that enough? It should be according to the NBC Live Extra video.

Then, when I try to add it, it tells me the last four digits of my social security number and phone number don't match what they have on file. And yet when I call support I use the same numbers and it's perfectly fine.

You just can't get a human being on the phone on their support line any longer without going through online troubleshooting for idiots.

"Is the power on?"
Yes!
"Is it plugged in?"
Yes!
"Is the light on?"
Yes!
"By the way, we have a special offer on pay-per-view this weekend. Would you like to sign up to watch Lassie's Big Adventure this weekend?"
No, piss off!
"Alright. Let's return to online troubleshooting, another great Comcast feature. Are all the cables connected correctly?"
Yes! Yes! Yes! Goddammit! Let me talk to a human being for fuck sake!
"Your response was not understood. Do you still have a problem?"
Yes!
"I will transfer you to a technician. Due to heavier than usual call volume, average wait time will be 1 hour and 45 minutes."

"Your response was not understood. Do you still have a problem?"
Oh no, everything is working great. I'm just calling to praise you how wonderful everything is.
"I'm glad the problem's been resolved. Thank you for calling Comcast. Goodbye."

1. Try nbcsports.com

And then click on "Live Extra" on the upper right-hand corner of the page. You'll be able to at least stream games through your computer until Comcast/NBC Sports gets their act together (which, I've heard, won't be until roughly the winter break depending on where you live).

At least with the Notre Dame vs. Temple showing right now.

It appears as though those games listed as "NBC Sports Network" do work, but those listed as "Live Extra" do/did not.

Well, at least that means I should be able to get tomorrow's Liverpool - Man U. and the North London derby game.

Is that it only lets you watch your game while it's actually being played; you can't go back and stream a previously-aired game.

The somewhat nice thing is that Comcast On Demand will let you watch games that have already happened if you have an HD and/or DVR enabled box. However, you can't record from On Demand

I've recorded Fox and/or espn360.com succesfully in the past using Replay Media Catcher (commercial software), though it is possible to wind up with encrypted, unwatchable video which has happened on another internet stream.

I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Is there an open source version of this anywhere, that you're aware of?

I would definitely be interested in finding one, so I could modify it and have it ignore the copyright flag. I tried to capture something the other day with RMC and it said it couldn't do it legally because it was a copyrighted stream.

Let me know if you find one. I've considered writing my own, since I don't think it would be that hard to do, but I've just never found the time.

I got lots of requests to install a new video player (yeah, right), and popups saying virusses had been detected on my computer. I knew better than to click on any button.

Sigh. iraqgoals.net
