The Draft!

Does anyone else feel rushed? I swear they expect every interview to be 30 seconds. ESPN is so far behind real time they need a time out.

I think last year in Green Bay was a better show since the league didn't try to 'improve' it!

I’d be fine if they dispatch with all the pageantry crap, “Just the facts, ma'am” .

"Since January you've won the Heisman Trophy, a national championship, and have been drafted number one. What have been your thoughts the past five months?"

"What is like for you to have your son drafted?"

"Can you tell us what your emotions are right now?"

Seriously?

Is there an effort to shift focus away from analysis to inexpensive time-filler? The old ESPN shows hosted by Chris Berman were more insightful. If someone traded down or traded up there'd be a minute of strategy discussion on that alone.

I don't feel rushed. I feel like I'm watching draft coverage that has been dumbed-down.

Maybe Round 2 will be different.

But I do follow the results. Some of the picks this year are bizarre; none more so than the Rams choosing Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick. He's undersized and really unproven; he played just 13 games at Alabama. Drafting someone to watch and learn from future Hall of Famer Matthew Stafford makes some sense, but they have a small window in which to try and get a championship. Getting Stafford some help was what most analysts expected the team to do. Even if they did fall for Simpson, he has a third round grade. They could and should have traded down if they were going to pick Simpson.

Wasting a first round pick is obviously pretty stupid. Wasting a pick in the first half of the first round is malpractice. Sean McVay must be beside himself.
