Of all the hitters that faced Nolan Ryan 70 more times (Rose, Raines, Dawson, Yount, R. Jackson, etc) Carew was the only batter to hit .300

welcome them to the big leagues. It was a long time ago and the idea of it was gross, but I guess that was the type of hazing rookies received.

He was born to hit a baseball.
In retirement, he became a heck of a golfer too.
He took up golf & was essentially scratch in about 2 years!
