(2,995 posts)I'll never forget the world series against the Indians. The TV broadcast showed Maddux's pitch as 3-4 inches off the plate but the ctahcer didn't move his glove from set up and it was a called strike.
On the split screen, they showed the Cleveland pitches in the same location or tighter to the plate called as balls. (including several over the black)
He was the beneficiary of some bad umpiring --- he was still great -- but wonder what would have happened if they actually called the legit strike zone on him.

He really was amazing how consistent he was and how he could manipulate an umpire behind the plate.
Another good argument for the Robo Strike Zone technology...
