(7,962 posts)They didn't overpay on Pujols (a smart move) and now have a 2-3-4 with Ozuna, Goldy and Martinez that compares with almost anyone.

(7,962 posts)More likely to try and extend Goldy and Ozuna, who are both FAs next year. Still, I'm excited about what they have done. With this lineup and their abundance of young pitching (they kept Hudson in this deal) they should contend for a title.

(22,000 posts)I wouldn't count them out of the Harper lottery; I wouldn't bank on it, either.
I suspect they will get a LHP before anything else happens.

(10,552 posts)They got his best years for a really cheap price, while the Angels got lousy years for an exorbitant price. Even Ken Griffey produced more for the Reds, and he did it at a discount (which still saw him being overpaid).
I doubt Pujols will finish out his contract before he is released (like A-Rod was). Maybe he can still produce a little bit next year, but I think that by 2020 he will be completely out of gas, and I doubt he will be on the roster come 2021.
It is so hard to know how to properly value Harper. He has so many ups and downs. The defense is a big problem. He should probably be moved to first base.

(13,455 posts)Better than he was at 3rd anyway. And Wong is stellar at 2nd so I hope Matt can at least hold his own on the hot corner

(13,455 posts)Please give Ozuna has a bounce back year
Please let Marp start hitting before mid-May
Give Wong a healthy year and cold streaks that only last a week not a month
And I really want Yadi to stays Yadi.
He's almost 300 years old in Catcher's years but he still brings it.
But no doubt the Cards are a better club at 430 Central Standard Time than they were at 4
