(11,088 posts)I seriously doubted they would pull off a victory in Milwaukee Saturday.
But now I think they will do it...

(28,711 posts)JBJ only hit .200, but he maximized every one of those hits. Devers is an important part of the RS going forward.

(10,552 posts)They both produced 9 runs in the games that the Red Sox won. Runs produced is RBIs plus runs scored minus the number of home runs.

In the game that the Sox lost JBJ scored a run. Devers did not play in that game.

They were comparable in OPS (On base percentage plus slugging). Devers was 1.082. Bradley was 1.067.

Bradley had a great series and he definitely produced when they needed him to. Like I said, I like him a lot. He seems like a cool guy. I just prefered Devers.
If Devers has a good World Series than maybe he will win the Babe Ruth Award, which isn't sanctioned by MLB, and goes to the best player in the entire postseason.

(28,711 posts)Can you imagine being a 20 YO and in the greatest competition of your life? What he is learning is only going to make him a better player going forward.
I got a pic of the 2018 ACLS banner aboiut 5 minutes after it was put up...go Sox!
It's going to be a coastal series....really big market focus...

(10,552 posts)But they have never met in the World Series. Or the Stanley Cup finals. Or the Super Bowl.
The Red Sox did play the Dodgers in the 1916 World Series back when the Dodgers played in Brooklyn. And were called the Robins. Babe Ruth was a starting pitcher in that series.
The NL also picked an MVP with a .200 batting average, Cody Bellinger. I'm not thrilled about it. I would have preferred Manny Machado or Chris Taylor. Of course, they were never going to give it to Machado.
I can accept it, though. But if they are going to downgrade the importance of batting average when determining MVP then they better not deny Jacob DeGrom the Cy Young award over his lack of wins.
