Who is the only pitcher in MLB history to:
Lead the league in ERA
Lead MLB in strikeouts
End the season with a losing record.
Should be pretty easy.

(70,599 posts)But, no. Johnson led the league in ERA several times, but each time had a stellar win/loss record those seasons, including 1913, where he had an ERA of 1.14 and 243 Ks, but his record was an amazing 36 & 7! 11(!) Shut Outs that year.
He had only 5 losing records in 21 seasons, including the last year where he didn't pitch much.
I'm a huge admirer of Walter. I've studied his numbers for a long time.

(70,599 posts)He had an ERA of under 2, 270 something Ks, but was 8-16 with a dreadful Astros team.
He had another season with the Angels where he had a losing record but led MLB in Ks, but had a losing record. That Angel's team stunk, too.
