In the fall of 2004 I bought a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon with a 2.5 liter turbocharged engine, 5 speed manual transmission, positraction rear differential and virtually every option available.

That was the most enjoyable street car I've ever owned. The handling, braking and performance in inclement weather was outstanding.

And before you ask how I know, I built and raced high performance cars for road racing in the SCCA.

I held numerous class track records and won many trophies over a period of 20+ years.

The 0-60 time on my Subaru was just over 5 seconds, and it still got almost 21 mpg, but did need premium fuel.

If you did manage to get it stuck in snow, it wasn't the cars fault. You needed to learn how to drive in the snow.

On top of all that, Consumers Reports has just named it one of the most reliable brands in the world, with extremely high customer satisfaction.

Go drive a Subaru, you'll see what I mean.

4WD and X Mode for snow/ice. Thankfully, I haven't had to drive much on icy roads.

Then protecting his camera from the snow as teh car goes by.

This reminds me of when we took our Subaru Outback through titus Canyon in Death Valley. We were a bit sideways a few times and kept making the CD player skip as we blasted through it. Fun stuff. I wanted to go back and shoot the run at night with justhe headlights and any moon light. But the few times we were there after that it was closed to cars because of flooding and the effects there of.
