Man? What a great weekend it was!

The 4th Annual Glamrock’s Lotuspalooza Run happened this year! A convoy of Lotus meeting in Lake County Indiana and traveling down to Carmel, IN for the Artomobilia show. A car show so large, there are multiple car shows within this car show. Lotuspalooza (80+ Lotus all along one street), along with PorschePalooza, and BmwPalooza. Plus street after street of classics, muscles, exotics, imports, classic imports and everything in between.

Had 12 in the convoy this year. And if you know Lotus, insane to see 12 running together. We owned the Hwy!

Arrived, checked in, parked, and enjoyed the day!

The difference this year, was that I planned a drive for Sunday. We rocked the Indiana Nurburgring! Man o man were those roads awesome! 8 of us just rocking the twisties I didn’t know existed in my home state! Mrs. Glam was not happy to hear she would be playing navigator. I was like, “babe! I can’t read directions, work the walkie, and drive roads I never drove before. I need your help!” Fortunately, my bride rocks and relented to my ask. And she crushed it! She blew me away! She absolutely became a huge participant in this great 4 hour run. To the point she was scooted up in the seat, phone in left, right hand death grip on the A-Pillar, filming! LOL! I’m soooo lucky! Here’s some vid to show these great roads. 2nd vid is sooo twisty (for Indiana).

And this pic sums up the weekend. Amazing!

2. Oh and living in NW Indiana which is nothing but grids, I'm so jealous of the canyon carving people!

Everything by me is a grid.

3 hours away are these great roads! And like you, I was shocked by the lack of traffic! However, it was a Sunday morning and most of the county was sitting in church.

Although, we did end up behind a Ranch King on an amazing road! Most people we encountered would pull off to let us pass, honk, wave, and take pics as we passed. But this guy! My wife, who this was her first long “spirited drive” is all, “wtf! Get out the way! You’re 12’ feet higher! You can see 8 Lotus behind you trying to have fun! Mooooooove!” 🤣

I’m like, “babe. Public road. Not a closed track. He has every right to be here that we do. We just gotta be patient, and eventually, he’ll turn off.” And then, he intentionally started fucking with us. Slowing to 10 below the speed limit in the turns. And I got a Ford F-250 work truck. I KNOW he can handle these turns at at least the posted limit. I’m starting to see red. He slows to 15 through a 30mph turn and now my mind has drifted into road rage revenge. Fortunately, there was a park to the keft we whipped into. I got out, and told the guys, “we’re gonna hang here for 15-20 and let him get out out of our way. Or, brother Glam wrecks/and or goes to jail.” Good thing Lotus people look out for each other. They all agreed!

5. "Canyon Carver!" I recently drove down to LA and stayed right at the top of Topanga Canyon so I could do some Carving.

Topanga Canyon Road, over Mulholland and onto Old Topanga Canyon Road and on to, eventually, undercarriage scraping to hike Red Rock Canyon State Park.

I also recently had the pleasure of completing a road in the Santa Cruz Mountains that I'd chickened out on a few years back. I'd U-turned at a tiny cliff turn-out and said, "This isn't the right time for me to do this. I'll come back another time." And I done it!

This Wabash College alumnus is quite familiar with Indiana country roads, and I've enjoyed all my encounters with Indiana people; politics be damned.

On edit: I've got to post this "flash on" I encountered on a San Francisco East Bay twisty turn. You're past it before you realize what you've seen. I won't tell you how many u-turns I had to make before I could get some safe clear shots.

The people? Even if they support Trump, they’re clueless to the fascism they support, and they’ll give you the shirt off their back if you’re in a pinch. Granted, I’m a white male sooo….

PS I googled those roads! Oh….oh….oh…..and I’m spent.

PPS Joined this craziness this year too! Been a great season so far!

Keep imagining driving that beauty on those incredible twisty canyon roads in LA--would be absolute heaven.

Canyon carving eh? I don't want to scare you but I used to do that at 80K lbs! On mountains though we called it "canyon running". All you need is a righteous machine, of any size, and a mountain pass can turn into a playground!

"Always take the inside!"

I feel privileged a friend let me sit in his Europa. That was decades ago and I thought it was so cool that the window was a little over a foot tall but had a power button on the console.

More recently at a British car show a dealer let me try on an Elise. I was surprised how well it fit me. "Just add lightness".

Either one would be a joy to drive but I'll get by with my Triumph. We've been together for 25 years.
