He was very wealthy, having made a fortune in alfalfa farming (he was a classmate of my mother's).
Imagine how surprised those relatives must have been to find out they were having a family reunion, not a funeral -- and any inheritance would not be received anytime soon since the "deceased" was alive and well!

(56,972 posts)We just never found the time. As it was, my brother ended up being the one who invited us to our wedding. If he hadnt, we probably would never have gotten around to it.
By the way, losing your partner after 36 years must have been the biggest blow that ever befell you. I would be a total wreck.
