It's very good but I was going through some rough stuff when I read it and might have preferred a more uplifting book at the time. Still, it's really really good.

I'm enjoying it. Though I did put it down for a couple of weeks. There's a sadness and emptiness that I needed a break from. I love her writing. She can really bring a sense of place and mood to life.

I loved her first novel, The Secret History. very unpleasant characters in that book but they were also compelling in a way that made the book impossible to put down.

read any of her other books, I'll look at The Secret History. I keep putting Goldfinch down too, not sure why completely..I read Life After Life in the mean time and loved it.

I love it. I particularly enjoyed the relationship between Theo and Boris.

I've been listening to all my books lately. I live in a rural place and it's a long drive for groceries, etc. so I love Audible. I was so into the book the other night that I cleaned my whole house while listening to it.

but I found the main character very unlikable and not very believable as a coming of age type hero. I did however like Boris - I would read a book about him.

Theo was so annoying sometime that I wanted to slap him. The drugs, the fraud. Ugh.

We're discussing tomorrow in book club. It will be interesting to hear what the rest of the group thought.

Very well written. Long read ... but, stay with it. I had to read it a little at a time. You can do it!

I cried like crazy through the last 20 or so pages. It was such a unique conglomeration of places and people, shocking and tender, psychedelic and utterly sobering. I avoided reading anything about it beforehand and wasn't expecting to like it, for some reason. But damn, that woman can write like a house on fire. I've put her earlier novels on my library waitlist as a result.

Plot points were telegraphed but the writer didn't seem to know it and kept writing as if she was holding you in suspense.
There were some interesting characters and situations but nothing quite felt complete.
