(18,219 posts)Enthusiast was reading it last month, and I hadn't realized there was a new book out. So I had to get to the library and get it.

(28,979 posts)Hiaasen writes the same novel, over and over again. Luckily, it's always a hilarious story, in which the politics and assorted oddities of Florida are dealt with in unsparing fashion. Recommended.

(18,219 posts)He does have a formula that he sticks to...insane situations, environmental issues, bad guys who destroy the beauty of Florida and are dumber than a box of rocks. But I always get a laugh out of it. The only thing that he dropped from his formula is Skink, and I really miss him.

(813 posts)Sean Dillon and gang add a new member and are called upon security-wise for a Presidential visit to London. At least that's it so far--I'm sure it will go downhill real soon now and they'll be called upon to keep the world from, well, exploding. Or imploding. Or devolving into chaos. Or something.
It's number 19 in the series, similar to the others and fun. I'm thinking that they'd make a better TV series than movie ever.

(10,388 posts)be reading it in October. I thought it was a remarkable for a debut novel. Amanda Coplin's characters were very well developed and the book was well-paced. I liked the people in this book, and I loved one.
But didn't love it. It seemed so sad at times. I really wanted the characters to find some happiness in their lives. Maybe Angeline did eventually.
It reminded me a bit of Plainsong by Kent Haruf but sadder.
I'll definitely read any other books she writes.

(21,041 posts)This includes Kiss me Deadly. I've not read it yet, but it was made into one of the best noir detective films ever.
