Related: About this forumJust found out a good book is now a movie - Life of Pi....
Wondering if they will butcher the book, or maybe we will get lucky and the movie will approach the book's quality. Fingers crossed!

(1,598 posts)It's hard for me to imagine the Life of Pi movie representing the book very well though.

(46,179 posts)would argue that. I think the movies did a good job over all, but there were several jagged edges that didn't fit. Faramir. Treebeard. Wormtongue. Arwen. No Bombadil, who, imo, was a key figure.

thinking....I can hear the jeopardy theme....
Nothing really comes to mind. I know I've left theaters surprised by a decent rendition, though. I just can't bring them to mind.
They don't happen often enough.

(4,558 posts)I've been dealing with family medical issues, so I have read the book in dribs and drabs, and only the last 100 or so pages in any large chunks.
The ending gave me goosebumps. I'm blown away, and can't wait for the movie. My wife is reading the book now, and I can't wait to discuss it with her.
