Lee Child's' "A Wanted Man" SPOILER ALERT

SPOILER ALERT.....

It is not one of his better books. 180 pages of riding in a car and blinking messages to a woman in the back seat.
The final 100 or so pages are o.k. but not up to his standards....(IMHO)

I only say this because, had I known, I would have waited for the book to go on sale.

Maybe I missed something. If you have read it, let me know your thoughts.

but the last couple of books make me think he's selling books on Jack Reacher's reputation, and maybe you can only go so far.

Child is a good-enough author to come up with another unique character with a fresh start and a new wrinkle - maybe one who talks too much

I tried the blinking thing and couldn't do it. Maybe it works in books or movies. I can't see it in real life.

And speaking of real life, the story itself was gibberish. I won't give any spoilers, but it involved various government agencies doing truly irrational things. Yeah, I know. That goes over big here. But it just didn't hang together.

That said, when it came time for Reacher to be Reacher, he didn't disappoint.

And, by the way, Tom Cruise is not Jack Reacher, and I won't see the movie.

it did have the line "I'm living the dream...I just shot two crooked bankers." He may have written the book just for that.

Although for more there, try Mike Cooper's _Clawback_. Someone killing off investment bankers and the ilk on Wall Street. I really liked it. May talk more about it if I get around to writing a Bouchercon report.
