A less known book of Orwell’s that I am very fond of:

I remembered something about Orwell today while pondering the internal conflict of being on the left while having various misgivings about things.

Orwell is relatively unique in his respectability across the political spectrum and his intellectual honesty is a big part of that.

(Christopher Ketcham and Yasha Levine have that quality I have noticed. So do several Current Affairs writers, Hamilton Nolan and some others on the left).
