Is there a preferred app you use, or do you get physical copies on cd at your local library? I was considering checking out audiobooks now that Im such a podcast nerd Im more used to listening to more than music!
Thanks in advance.

Recently discovered Overdrive at the library which I love/hate. My library has very limited selection of books I am interested in. Only one person at a time can checkout/hear, which seems lame to me. If you have to stop midchapter it can be really difficult to get back to your exact spot, on my computer anyway. This has been the cause of many cuss words emanating from my home. But I'm still using it.

(7,611 posts)Years ago when I was driving a lot I checked out tapes and CD's at the library - until I had listened to all of them I was interested in. My library now has downloadable books for free for 2 weeks, but, again, not many I really care for, and anything good is on a long waiting list, (I mean, like, months).
I have tried Amazon's Audiobooks, but can't get it to work on my IPad or IPhone either.
Audible has a terrific inventory. I haven't found them to not have anything I was looking for. Plus, they have free "channels" with news, various comedy podcasts, etc.. And, you can return for credit books you do not like, which I have done several times. Also, they have regular sales with books for less than $5.
I started using AppleItunes to download books first, before joining Audible. I think they are more expensive than Audible, if you listen a lot.

(844 posts)I am going to try Audible ( because I already have Prime) but I dont know that it will take much of my reading time away because I do so love the physical library and its free.
